Proefnotitie: 

Uiterlijk: Robijnrood met een grote concentratie

Neus: rijp zwart fruit (bramen, bessen), licht gepeperd, wat kruidig, tikje aards met tonen van kreupelhout.

Smaak: rijpe tannines, vlezige structuur met een aangenaam licht fruitige, sappige afdronk.

Het Huis: De Cartuxa wijngaard is de hoofdactiviteit van de Eugénio de Almeida Stichting. 

De kwaliteit van alle Cartuxa wijnen ligt in de kwaliteit van de druiven. Zij beschikken over een groot aantal percelen die verspreid liggen over de welgekende plaatsen als Pinheiros, Casito, Álamo da Horta en Valbom. Het landgoed heeft momenteel meer dan 400 hectare grond.Elk perceel wordt afzonderlijk bewerkt, rekening houdend met de leeftijd van de wijnstokken, de aangeplante variëteit en de structuur van de bodem, waarbij in gedachten wordt gehouden voor welke wijnen de druiven bestemd zijn.

Sinds de jaren tachtig heeft de Eugénio de Almeida Stichting bijgedragen aan de vooruitgang van onderzoek door haar deuren te openen en samen te werken met verschillende instellingen, waaronder de regionale universiteit van Evora.

The 2024 100% Oloroso sherry cask matured edition of Kilkerran single malt. It's delicious, smoky and ever so fruity!

Tasting Notes:

Nose : Notes of soft peat smoke, leather-bound books and sticky toffee pudding are present on the nose.

Palate:  The familiar rich and dirty character of our Kilkerran 8 year old sherry series is clear to taste. We also get thick date syrup, blackcurrants, cherries, redcurrants and a maritime coastal taste.

Finish : As the whisky develops, there are notes of ashy medicinal smoke, ginger and chocolate oranges.

The Local Barley is an annual release made from barley grown in or around Campbeltown. Different farms, barley varieties, cask maturations and length of time the whisky spends in the casks from one batch to the next allow a unique tasting experience every time.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: On the nose, this whisky is packed full of fruitiness, ripened bananas, boiled sweets and cinnamon.

Palate: Initially, the thick, chewy and oily texture of this whisky is evident. From there, we get a peppery and malty note, then strawberries, brandy schnapps and parma violets.

Finish: Into the finish there’s subtle peat smoke hiding in the background, wine gum sweetness, toasted oats, dunnage earthiness and a slight drying taste.
