Nos coups de coeur

A rich and sweet whisky from Benrinnes distillery, on the northern shoulder of Ben Rinnes, 700 feet above sea level.

Tasting Notes:

Appearance: Bright mahogany

Nose: Chocolate liqueurs, well-worn leather, soft smoke and dense floral aromas open on the nose, with pine needles, polished wood and dried fruit underneath

Palate:  sweet and rich, offering rum-like fruitiness, sultanas, sticky dates and charred, smoky oak.

Finish: Dries out slightly in the finish, where there is also a 'catch' which might be taken for peat-smoke. Medium length, leaving a faintly sherried aftertaste.

Land: Scotland

Distillery: Benrinnes

Alcohol by volume: 43%

Spicy, rich and full, this whisky comes from Blair Athol distillery, on the peaty moorlands in the foothills of the Grampian mountains.

Tasting Notes:

Appearance: Polished mahogany

Nose: Dry sherry aromas fill the nose, backed up by Muscat grapes, brimstone, dried apricots and treacle toffee.

Palate:  The palate bursts with dried fruit, minty herbs, Madeira wine and vanilla that fade to oak spice, dry pepper and apple crumble

Finish: A curious sweetness is introduced at the end after the acidity and dryish finish has passed.

The Flora and Fauna series released 12 year old from the Speyside distillery, Linkwood. Whisky Magazine awarded this an "Editor's Choice".

Tasting Notes:

Appearance: Old gold

Nose: Fresh soft-fruits with a hint of vanilla, then light cigar-box notes are perceptible, and a faint hint of expensive ladies' perfume.

Palate:  Sweet, overall. Viscous, but fresh and clean: a pleasant acidity helps to maintain this.

Finish:  Cedar notes emerge in the finish, which is long.

Lind & Lime Gin is forged from the talent, heritage and industry of Edinburgh and its historic distilling district of Leith. In everything that we produce, our watchword is ‘balance’.

We create our classic robust London dry gin using 7 botanicals, juniper, coriander, angelica, liquorice, orris, fresh lime peel and aromatic pink peppercorns.

The recipe: three key flavours:

Juniper

Juniper is the cornerstone of any true gin. It’s what makes gin gin. It evokes forest like imagery - fresh pine, juicy berries and earthy aromas.

Lime

Citrus is our signature top note not fruit pastel, confected lime, but zesty refreshing lime. We spend countless hours peeling our organic limes by hand leaving behind the pith and juice which we then use for cocktails on our tour.

Pink Peppercorns

Lime and juniper alone are not enough to create complexity in a balanced gin. We chose pink peppercorns because they have a little bit of everything, they have orange like citrus, warming spice and bursting with red fruits.
