A full profile of the Tamdhu 15 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (46%) — a highly regarded Speyside dram, known for its full sherry cask maturation.
Sherried Speyside malt, aged entirely in first-fill Oloroso casks.
No peat — but deep character from wood and time.
Tasting Notes:
Appeareance: Deep amber, sometimes described as mahogany or rich copper.
Nose: Rich and elegant sherry notes: dried fruits (figs, dates, raisins). Toffee and caramel sweetness. Spiced orange peel, hints of clove and nutmeg. Almond, oak, and roasted nuts. Soft vanilla, balanced by a slight leather/tobacco earthiness.
Palate: Full-bodied, creamy, and mouth-coating. Layers of dark fruits: blackcurrant, raisins, figs. Spice forward: cinnamon, clove, black pepper. Chocolate, orange zest, and roasted coffee beans. Hints of hazelnut, leather, and oak tannin toward the back. Very balanced between sweetness, spice, and wood.
Finish: Long, warm, and spicy. Drying oak and spice linger (clove, pepper). Fading into dark chocolate and dried fruit sweetness. Slight nuttiness and leathery depth remain at the end
